On Tuesday, July 28th, more than 300 University of Michigan interns working in Detroit gathered with the University’s corporate and community partners at Quicken Loans in the One Woodward Building downtown to celebrate a successful summer program. Hosted by the University of Michigan and supported by Marketing Associates®, the purpose of the event was to honor the U-M interns’ work and learn about their experiences in the city, while also giving the students an opportunity to network with company executives, community leaders, U-M officials and each other.
“The goal of the Interns in Detroit program is to increase awareness of the University of Michigan’s resources in the city, which can—and will—benefit Detroit both now and in the future,” said Cynthia Wilbanks, U-M’s vice president for government relations. “This program is also a key component of U-M’s commitment to engaged learning, allowing our students to put what they’ve learned in the classroom to the test in the real world.”
